Our Pet: Kate

Kate is a one-in-a-million!!  We adopted her from the Humane Society that is less than a mile from our home.  We decided early on that we wanted a dog, as we both love them, and we also wanted to adopt a dog.  But we didn’t want just any dog, we wanted the dog that would be a great addition to our family.  We went to the Humane Society almost weekly for about 2 months looking for the right dog.  In late March of 2009 we again visited, this time taking Kate for a walk around the Humane Society’s grounds.  We decided to take her home the next day!

Since that point, Kate has been an awesome addition to our family.  She is a very loving dog!!  She loves cuddling with us on the window seat in our office, and greets us at the door when we come home from work.  We think if we let her she would be like Little Bo Peep’s sheep and follow us everywhere!  Often when washing dishes she will come up and lean against our legs, or sit on our feet, just to be close to us.

Kate also loves to run!  She will chase her “wubbie” (a ball with tails) in the backyard, or will chase the croc stuffed toy that Grandma House brought for her.  Her favorite treats are hot-dogs and cheese.  Kate likes being around other dogs, and can’t seem to get enough of the dog park that we take her to.  She also does well with children.  Our friends and family members have brought their children to our house, to which Kate pretty much ignores them, and does well when she is told to sit to be petted.  Kate knows quite a few commands including: sit, stay, come, lay-down, shake, roll-over, and get-in (used for the car).

Everyone that comes to our home likes Kate.  We really got lucky in finding the dog that is not only right for our family, but also right for our extended family and our friends!
